The Opportunity Scholarship application is now closed and will reopen on July 1st for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Recipients selected in the random drawing will be contacted via email in August.

Eligible Graduate Students y Eligible DACA Students, as defined below, that:

  • Apply for the scholarship;
  • Take a Financial Literacy Quiz;
  • Are selected in a random drawing; and
  • Provide or have their educational institution provide CHESLA with required documentation to support eligibility for the scholarship, 

Scholarship recipients attending on at least a half-time basis will receive $1,500 and scholarship recipients attending full-time will receive $3,000. A total of $100,000 is available for the scholarship drawing.

 

  • Eligible DACA Student means a student who:
    (1) is a resident of Connecticut;
    (2) has current Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) approval issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services;
    (3) is enrolled in and attending an eligible Connecticut non-profit degree granting institution of higher education on at least a half-time basis, is in good academic standing and making satisfactory progress, as determined by such institution; and
    (4) is not in default on a CHESLA loan.

  •  Eligible Graduate Student means a student who:
    (1) is a resident of Connecticut;
    (2) is a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Permanent Resident, or has current Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) approval issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services;
    (3) is enrolled in and attending an educational program leading to a graduate degree at an eligible Connecticut non-profit degree granting institution of higher education on at least a half-time basis, is in good academic standing and making satisfactory progress, as determined by such institution; and
    (4) is not in default on a CHESLA loan.
